DESCRIPTION:The McCourt Foundation is organizing their annual LA 5K run through Los Angeles on Saturday\, March 15th. Homenetmen LA is organizing a team to run in this event as a new and fun way to raise some funds for a number of activities this year\, including to support our scouts attending the Intercontinental Summer Camp at Camp Tecuya\, as well as our athletes who are going to Armenia to participate in the 12th Pan Homenetmen Games! \nThe LA 5K is open to participants of all ages and abilities – no experience in running previous distance events is necessary. Typically runners can finish the 5K in 30-40 minutes; you can also choose to walk the distance typically in 45-60 minutes. Experience an iconic run as you run through beautiful Elysian Park before a rewarding finish set against the backdrop of world-famous Dodger Stadium. All participants will receive a race shirt\, finishers medal\, post-race refreshments and a truly unforgettable race experience. \nLimited team slots are available. SUMMARY:48th Navasartian Games & Festival
DESCRIPTION:Organized by Homenetmen Western USA\, the Navasartian Games launched in East Los Angeles in 1975. It now boasts the participation of 375 teams\, 3\,200 athletes\, 1\,100 scouts and attracts over 35\,000 spectators over a period of eight weeks each year. The games culminate on the weekend of the Fourth of July\, with a festival and an elaborate Victory Parade featuring the collective family of Homenetmen athletes\, scouts\, parents and volunteers from the 18 chapters in the Western US. With the participation of over fifty local businesses and organizations in the food and games booths of the festival\, the Navasartian Games are more than just a Homenetmen event. These games have a special place in the heart of the community and feature all that is right with the community. After all\, these activities are geared towards keeping the youth away from negative influences. By participating\, they become involved in family and community oriented activities. \nTeam sports registration including basketball\, soccer\, and volleyball are underway.
